What this blog is

Aaron Peterson's idea blog. Generally positive attitude stuff goes here. I've been so excited to write down my idaes, that I'd like to think that they burn bright enough to make the wire... the network connection...glow.

I'm generally a bit ahead of the technology game, but I haven't yet demonstrated the ability to follow through with my ideas. I want to someday, however, I've noticed that TONS of people have TONS of great ideas. (and a lot of bad ones...)

I want to share my ideas for the benefit of mankind. I wanted to provide prior art so that they cannot be patented, but corruption may have made patents easier to get.

I strive to see where other people are coming from with their ideas.
I believe that lying/deception, hiding information can be viewed as a fundamental ... sin.

[I deleted a bit about my world view.]

Free Software Has a Chance

Today I went to an Apple Store. I found a horrible bug in the task bar-- it's extremely easy to nuke an item off of the start/task bar. or accidentally re arrange them...

And, I tried to exit the adobe macintosh products... It just plain wouldn't exit! I clicked Illustrator--or whatever the left most menu was, and exit was greyed out!! Nothing else to do!!!

And just now, I had an Itunes experience, whereby I was not able to backup my expensive purchases, but it also ejected my DVD video that I watching, and did a couple of other horrible things....

This is all udder crap, I won't put Vista on my machines.. IE7 turned me off to MS design.. My only hope is KDE4 and Opera! If the website doesn't work in Opera, it can go to... oh wait, this blogspot website doesn't work with Opera...

Anyway, I'm just saying, free software has a chance... And it's a good chance. OSX and Vista are second rate pieces of crud. KDE may be just a tad worse, but not by much.

What's first rate? --shudder--- WinXP for me right now... but that depends on if your manufacturer supports windows. (Toshiba doesn't seem to support my Toshiba Tecra M4, it's old drivers probably cause problems on graphical stuff)

So, I may be too tired to post, but I'm doing it anyway. Go see Hot Fuzz, it was funny!

Battle Code

Yay! I finally found a robotic fighting competition... it's not a very realistic virtual enviornment... It doesn't attempt to approximate reality... however, I just realized that it's probably at a complexity level that people can actually work with.

My guess... Formations are going to be a big deal, and it doesn't look like there is much of a penalty for creating units and letting them die. Also, basic

I played with the demo system, the biggest problems are: the JDK is not easy to find. JRE is very easy to find... and it doesn't get put into the path properly.

I really really should have tried to go to MIT... They won't let just anybody register :(

Our sytem, try new things

Anybody ever consider, that if everybody is a shareholder in the major corporations, that we own the corporations? Anybody consider that we don't have top down control of them?, that we only vote with our consumerism?... and that there are essentially dictators that want to perform for the shareholder... a service to make more money, which could simultaneously gouge the very owners of the sytem?

How is this different than the communism that so many people hold in low regard? almost everybody is a part of some stock holding organization. Almost everybody owns part of everything...

The pieces only go together in a certain fashion... our captialism might as well be communism. What held us apart is the free speech and other rights, that are now being whittled away.

I fear that copyright and patents are encroaching on something beyond free speech, they are targeting our very existence.

Artists must recognize that people just listening to their music is part of the reward, and people who listen must recognize the cost of making them. If we want music, we will pay for it!!!! we must. The music will stop flowing if we don't. We can survive a trial period without Big Content. After this trial period, where they are defanged, lets see how the music scene is.

WE CAN have trial periods for laws!

Why should I care if spiderman 4 comes out or not. I was assaulted with spiderman 3 advertismentes. On onehand, this grand media system unites us with a common story. on the other, it is a bloated, and demeaning.
.

Voting System

This is my idea for election reform.

Like George Washington warned us of in his farewell address, The political parties are getting ridiculously skewed away from the welfare of the state.

We must allow the people to elect the best candidates, not the least bad that's in a party that can win.

Our voting system should allow us to place a list, of maybe 4 people, or some technical limit that is greater than the number of candidates listed on the ballet. that we think would do a good job in that role.

The person with the most votes, wins. This way, we don't have to have primaries... If we like 1 republican 1 democrat, and 2 other parties... we can vote for all of them!..

Our primaries sometimes eliminate the best candidates! We are forced to vote within a party!
We don't have to have primaries where the republican that would appeal to democrats looses, and the democrat that appeals to the republican looses

We end up with a mess.

... I have more comments about our current state of affairs, however, I don't want to mix my more formal ideas with my musings, and I don't want to piss people off. Nobody reads this now, but maybe, just maybe someday..

Our currency is out dated.

In a world that places increasing focus on pattern proprietor payment (intelectual property is a misnomer), there is an inherent problem with a person profitiering off patterns that are essential for life. It wouldn't be so bad if this happened only once, because the person who saves everyone could then be the supreme emperor... witch would probably be bad, but it's simpler to deal with one leader.

We may be faced with folks who want to create the next essential device. These people should become wealthy, because the chance of them coming up with another device to save or enlighten or enslave humanity may be statistically greater.

We should allocate assets to the people who use them best. Unfortuanately, some people are going to be left out. And we can't know apriori who will handle them best.

I saw a movie / some sort of future sports movie, that had a popularity ranking system, as I assume to be it's fundamental currency.

What if we all had a base salary, and voted with our money? We say that NBA super stars should have 10x more resources to spend than we do, and what were CEO's of big corporations may have 10,000X what we have, (granted, what we get paid is the same as our budget... all of ourfunds are intermixed)

So there would be a lot of problems with this model, how do we record the preferences of everybody, so that the weighted average is used.

How do we keep factions from forming that misinform?

Lying must be a crime in and of its self... perjury can happen outside of a court. How do we keep the definition of truth from from being brain washing? We must allow alternate explanations

Pattern Payment and exclusivity should be more like the definition of chocolate, or french cut green beans. MARS and other companies, should put up their exact formulas and procedures for manufacturing for the right to have a trademark/or unique label on that item.

Falsifying manufactured by notes would be punishable.. Basically I should be able to make a snickers bar , with a note, manufactured by Bob Vance... (if my name were Bob Vance, under supervision of Jim Markonebob, equipment by Jeff Moreheadtwiddle certified by **Agency**) and use the word snickers on it!.. maybe even the shape! What I should not be able to do, is say it was manufactured by (whomever makes it for MARS)

If I make a product that isn't what I say it is, **Agency** should be able to shut me down... Royalties to the person who created the recipe for snickers would get royalties through the agency certification fees.

Now if I made it exactly alike, but called it woolie woomba's instead of snickers, people probably shouldn't purchase from off brands, and the agency should recognize that this is snickers, and and lock me up for representing it as something else...

Ok, there are tons of flaws in my thoughts. Why AM I so discontented with our current system? I think it's going to fail.. and I don't want it to. I want to change up to something better .

The Main thing, that I have not seen flaws in, (there probably are tons) is my voting idea... to be posted imediatly after this one as to not mix up this ... unrefined, probably not salvagable idea.

Method for skipping ads while keeping revenue

If Digital Consumer Estrangement Technologies (DCE) (The latest Digital Restriction Management rename proposal by Comcast) require the viewing of advertisements, one should be able to skip an advertisement, but have it be replaced by another ad.

Yes, I'm one of those people who feel superior for watching the consumer bowl for the commercials... was that once called the super bowl? anyway, I may occasionally want to watch a tampon commercial... why? hot women, and us guys may occasionally have to run to the supermarket for our girlfriends who are on the rag.. and what of single fathers with a pubescent girl? I don't see any reason why to be embarrassed... anyway I digress... I don't wan' t to see it 10 times a night.

I'd like to be able to see a bud commercial, a widimier heff commercial, and a coors light commercial...

And guess what, It's not embarassing not to skip a commercial... It allows a social way to go ahead and watch commercials that are interesting, and gives us a chance to skip the really annoying ones... it gives feedback on the quality of the commercial. This also doesn't require as much customer tracking to show ads.. I WANT to expand my product knowledge.. I don't want people to come chasing me down, forcing an image into my head that associates brand with sex.

I like good commercials. i don't want to see them after I've memorized them.. and if I skip it, i can get an impression.. oh, It's mcdonalds.. I'm gonna skip it because I've seen the add before, but damn I'm hungry... and McD's sounds good.

politics iraq america, world system, barack obama

Barack looks like a better leader than Hillary,

I'm interested in what Nader and LaRouche have to say.

What type of man is he?

http://www.myspace.com/barackobama

I think we need to withdraw from Iraq, however, I believe that China will move in!

What happens if China gets the oil resources from Middle East, Sudan, and Vietnam?

It's a bit like playing warcraft. It's hard to win when the enemy has all of the gold and oil bases.

For our survival, we need that oil. For our survival, we need to follow our laws, For our survival, we need to have integrity.

We must keep our muscle.

We should arm our citizens, and require domestic military service for all people.
Basic Military service should not require loss of free speach, it should be a softer kind of service, however, we should all be trained in basic combat and strategy, and be required to attend meetings... This would give us our CIVICS, we will be able to come together as a people.

Withdrawing from Iraq should probably be a compromise. We can't afford to have all of our units within the range of one nuclear device, and we cant have them spread too thin.

We're just going to have to deal with less oil! We will have to radically change our economy. CEO's of major industrial firms will have to reposition their companies in the market

We are going to have to spank the banks, and give breaks to people who invested in these impractical technologies (gas guzzling) because... they were lied to.

As a nation, We are weak in working together
We are FAT, we have tons of luxuries, we can play video games instead of assemble
we are inefficient, how much energy do we use per capita? and what the heck do we actually manufacture here?

Our work, We should work 3 hours per day assembling 3 hours per day manual labor, and 2-3 hours doing school or strategic/head work planning. This is a rough estimate of course.. Our jobs are too menial, or too specialized. We should remove some artificial disincentives for having multiple part time jobs. We should get used to leading, and following someone who is inexperienced.

We can be a nation of diverse farming poet warriors... -- that's a bit awkward.. but it covers basic substinance, defense, and entertainment. breeding is sort of taken for granted.

Breeding:
Love / careers / familly / school

Our public school system is corrupt. We've got people who don't want to be there, being there. We should allow more child labor. There is nothing magical about being a child. You're just really really stupid, and don't know it. You must learn the basic important things at young a young age. Right now, our kids are taught a little too much individualism. I say Too much because they don't understand how everybody needs everybody else.

Note: I do not believe in age discrimination-- this is how child labor would be allowed, and it would be regulated.

--- BAh, this sux, I don't see how it would work---
Instead of age regulation, we would use a combination of test completion, the tests would involve mathematics and dexterity, and age and dependency/gardianship,
Basically, it would be set up so that most people 18-21 have full rights, and most 16 year olds have voting rights. also, a community could instanciate the person--nevermind I still think there is a way to have this work...

-- political organization
Through our manditory military service, we would be a part of groups. I think we should be allowed to chose our groups... maybe be in one geographical group, and one ideological one...
