Checklist for Linux distros

Whenver a new linux distro comes out, it always touts a new feature, or some latest version of a program, These are not that helpfull!


Installation:
*bootdisk menu
-ability to boot from HD
-ability to edit boot parameters
-safemode
- livecd available
- livecd use forced
-lightweight option (xfce or fluxbox)
-kde (gnome is not a feature, but it would be listed here)
-native language is english
-ability to choose other language
-fits onto a CD
-fits onto a mini-cd
-fits onto a dvd


* installer
-lvm support
-ntfs resize
-import from windows
-import from linux
-seporate admin and user accounts
-hostname choice
-useful help
-scriptable
-autmatically outputs a file that can be read for a second installer

*base install
-handles
*initscripts give useful error messages (gentoo seems awesome at this)

*distro
-reposotories avaiblable (debian and gentoo based--rox yast, and urpmi)
- free software loyal -debian

This list, like most of my posts, will require editing to make it user friendly.. hopefully somebody at distrowatch or ziffdavis will find it usefull for their reviews.
